Karl (67) lives as a withdrawn photographer in a house on the border between East and West Berlin. For years, he has buried his past as a WWII train driver. When the Berlin Wall is literally built through his home and refugees knock at his door, the distance he has carefully maintained collapses, forcing him to choose between turning away once more or finally taking action.
